Rakiraki (Mallard) in Colour Pencil, Art Print

This stunning art print showcases a female Rakiraki (Mallard) duck.

Attractive introduced game birds, very common now throughout New Zealand, these birds hybridised with NZ's native grey duck and also sadly competitively exclude them from many wetland areas. Females are often seen in spring being followed by hoards of yellow fluffy chicks.

Drawn with Faber-Castell Polychromos colour pencils, the inspiration for this drawing comes from an original photograph taken of a resident mother Mallard at the artist's ex-workplace, Carrington, Pt Chevalier.
